Anantnag, Feb 26 (KNO): “The relocation of Maternity and Child Care Hospital at Anantnag is a longstanding issue and all steps are being taken in this regard keeping in view the interests of the patients,” Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr Abid Rasheed Shah said on Monday. Speaking to reporters following his visit to both the M&CCH and GMC-associated hospital in Janglat Mandi, Anantnag, Dr Abid said the district's health infrastructure plays a critical role in catering to patients from south Kashmir and select districts of Jammu division. With the establishment of GMC Anantnag in recent years, patient influx and expectations for enhanced healthcare services have risen significantly, he said. Acknowledging the challenges, the Secretary H&ME said the department is engaging all stakeholders and adopting a collective strategy to address the issues at hand. “All these challenges would be swiftly resolved,” he assured. Dr Abid said the government is committed to augmenting healthcare facilities through infrastructure development, facility upgrades and adequate staffing in the district. On the longstanding issue of the M&CCH's relocation, Dr Shah said necessary measures would be taken in the best interest of patient care. The M&CCH in Anantnag has been operating from an unsafe building since 2014, despite serving patients from four districts of south Kashmir, as well as Ramban and the Chenab Valley—(KNO)
